Plantar Fasciitis

Relief for the sharp heel pain that makes the first steps of the morning unbearable.

Understanding Plantar Fasciitis

Plantar fasciitis is a common and painful condition caused by inflammation of the thick band of tissue (plantar fascia) that runs across the bottom of your foot. It often manifests as a stabbing pain near the heel, especially with those first few steps in the morning. For hikers, runners, and those on their feet all day in Cochise County, it can be a major roadblock. We treat the foot, but we also look up the chain to the calf and hip to find the source of tension.

Tight calf muscles (gastrocnemius and soleus) are often the silent culprits behind plantar fasciitis. When these muscles are tight, they pull on the Achilles tendon and the heel bone, which in turn puts excessive tension on the plantar fascia. Simply rolling a ball under your foot helps, but it rarely resolves the problem. We use deep tissue work on the calves and specific friction techniques on the foot to break down adhesions and restore elasticity to the tissues.

Our Therapeutic Approach

We don't just chase symptoms. We use targeted modalities to address the source of

your tension.

Deep Calf Release

We focus heavily on releasing the gastrocnemius and soleus muscles in the calf to reduce the tension pulling on the heel.

Cross-Fiber Friction

We use specific friction techniques on the plantar fascia itself to break down scar tissue and stimulate healing.

Stretching Protocols

We teach you specific stretches to maintain flexibility in the calf and foot, preventing recurrence.

Foot Mobilization

We mobilize the bones of the foot to ensure proper mechanics and weight distribution.

Ready to Find Relief?

Every step shouldn't be a painful reminder of your condition. By treating the source—often tight calves and poor mechanics—we can help you get back on your feet and back to exploring the beautiful trails of Arizona.
